The Art Newspaper Russia announced the opening of the New Reality exhibition
19 October 2020

Two Moscow galleries - InGallery by Inga Legasova and Nikolskaya Gallery by Irina Nikolskaya - have teamed up for a large exhibition of contemporary Russian art "New Reality". More than 40 artists with 150 works, mainly painting and graphics, participate in it. The topic - the most pressing and relevant to everyone - is the experience of surviving the COVID-19 pandemic, self-isolation and social distancing. Among the authors are both masters and young artists. Among the first were Sergei Bazilev, one of the leaders of Russian hyperrealism, the famous cartoonist Andrei Bilzho, leading graphic designer Andrei Logvin, and his colleague designer and illustrator Yuri Gordon. Also participating are Ivan Dubyaga, Marina Ivanova-Imar, Mitya Nesterov, Katya Schwartz. The curators of the exhibition do not focus on generations - they see in the global disaster an experience that brings together artists of different styles and backgrounds.

“The 'new reality' is each of us and all of us together, these are our new skills, acquired habits, new thoughts and desires, but also new fears. What new ones will we fill the world with? Can we return to our old life? How would it be if nothing happened to us? Maybe we will start to appreciate privacy? Or will we more often and more attentively communicate with loved ones? Perhaps, let's think about our own values, priorities, true goals and aspirations? Who knows? However, we can be sure that we will look at the world in a new way, at ourselves, at others, because people have understood that they have each other, ”the organizers of the project note.

The exhibition is accompanied by the ironic "coronaviruses" of the poet Vladimir Vishnevsky.
